Dating internet services are becoming increasingly popular. They appeal to people who are too busy with work and other obligations to get out and meet potential partners. However, don’t get carried away. People tend to have short attention spans, so the chances that someone will read a massively long profile are slim. Rather than being wordy, aim to be to-the-point, and make every word count. Different web sites have different profile forms (such as “interests,” “likes/dislikes,” etc.), so you can expect some sort of guidance as to what you should write.

Make sure that you’re honest when filling out your profile. It’s fine - and a good idea - to portray yourself in the best light possible. However, don’t lie or intentionally mislead your potential dates; there’s no way that can end well. If you’re struggling to think of things to write, you might want to ask a friend or relative for suggestions.

It’s crucial that your profile looks polished and impressive. Otherwise, people who see it might think that you didn’t bother to fill it out properly because you didn’t take it seriously. Be sure to proofread it before you submit it!

On the other hand, a well-written and clear profile is likely to result in serious inquiries. Do not underestimate the persuasive powers of presentation!
